Cat Care Tips

Over years of feline care and parenting, there have been plenty of learning opportunities and disappointing mistakes maintaining beloved feline friends. Reflecting on these past experiences, Felineasy has used and developed some product and care suggestions for establishing a happy feline household.

Scratching Pads & Posts -- Critical Necessity
Critical on the list is protecting furniture, drapes, and carpet from kitties' sharp, clingy claws. Cats have an ongoing urgency to sharpen claws. We learned very quickly that cat claws can be a disaster for furniture and carpeting. Regular claw trimming and providing scratching substitutes will help reduce damage to valuable furniture.

A priceless addition for new or existing feline friends is some type of scratching post or pad. We have found cardboard, sisal (rope), and carpet-backed trees and posts to be a great help. Using these products will help to minimize damage to home furniture and draperies. Some highly rated and reasonable cost products sold on Amazon are featured on this page.

Toys!! Toys!! Toys!!

Like lots of other cat behavior, playing is often unpredictable. Generally, things that move through the air are exciting and fun. But, don’t be surprised if the $20 electric toy lay quietly in the corner. Meanwhile the crumbled ball of paper gets lots of attention.
Sometimes kitty demands your attention and involvement when playing. Other times, Kitty will roll around alone quietly tapping her toy along the floor. Often pushing the toy ahead until it is clearly pushed under furniture and clearly out of reach. The dancing feather at the end of the fish pole is lots of fun until captured or no longer moving. Playing behavior is sometimes simply another feline mystery. One of the most responsive behaviors is a laser flashing a red trail that kitty can never catch. But it is mostly exciting and fun for both kitty and mom or dad.
Cat Fur - Cat Fur - Cat Fur
Kitty will definitely shed some fur. Depending on breed and fur length, there can be troublesome seasonal or daily shedding. Much of this shedding is normal as kitties work to keep a healthy coat. The result is furry deposits on furniture and carpeting. So, this behavior introduces some added care for feline friends.
A most likely helpful solution is regular brushing. A wide variety of combs and brushes are available to help control tangles on kitty and deposits on furnishings. Experiment with different types to find something compatible with your furry friend. Be careful with gentle brushing and avoid pulling too hard on kitty’s sensitive skin. Also, that furry friend may take some time to warm up to regular brushings. Use care and caution to find something that your cat finds acceptable. Sometimes bristle brushing is most helpful, and sometimes metal combs can provide the best treatment. It may take some trial and error, but usually there is a solution that will help.
To remove fur from furniture and carpeting, you can find a wide variety of adhesive and metal rollers.
